Thales Alenia Space presents new programs

Rome, Italy – During “SAT Expo Europe 2009” its products are dedicated to TLC and Earth observation

(WAPA) – Thales Alenia Space participates at “SAT Expo Europe 2009”, the international exhibition of aerospace and telecommunication industry which is being held in the Fair of Rome. The company will present programs dedicated to space and satellite technology in general.

In the Earth observation, the company part of Finmeccanica Group began to project Cosmo-SkyMed, the first Italian dual constellation, for military and civil use. The four SAR (high resolution radars in X band) technology equipped satellites observe the Earth night and day. The first three satellites have been launched in 2007 and 2008. The constellation will be completed in 2010 with the fourth launch.

Ground observation and environment monitoring are included in Sentinel satellites, part of Earth observation program “Copernicus”, co-financed by Esa (European Space Agency) and by the European Commission.

Concerning telecommunications, Thales Alenia Space has Sical 1B, the second satellite of Sicral program (Italian system for alarm telecommunications).
