EARSC Policy Observatory
The EARSC Policy Observatory is the hub for our policy-related work, where we monitor, analyse, and contribute to the development of key EU policies impacting the Earth observation (EO) sector. Our goal is to advocate for the effective integration of EO services into European policymaking, supporting evidence-based decision making across environmental, agricultural, security, and other strategic domains.
This space brings together our contributions, ranging from high-level advocacy to technical feasibility studies to ensure EO capabilities are well-understood and leveraged in shaping Europe’s digital and green transitions. The documents available here reflect our engagement with EU institutions and stakeholders, offering insight into the evolving policy landscape and EARSC’s role in interacting with it.
Statements
Statements
Statements are timely expressions of EARSC’s views on emerging developments or ongoing policy discussions. They are often used to react to proposals, initiatives, or events, providing immediate insight into the association’s perspective.
Letters
Letters
Letters are direct communications from EARSC to policymakers or stakeholders, usually to highlight a concern, offer support for an initiative, or request consideration of specific issues. These are often sent in coordination with legislative timelines or key consultations.
Position Papers
Position papers outline EARSC’s formal stance on key policy issues affecting the EO sector. These documents present clear recommendations and are typically shared with EU decision-makers to inform legislative or strategic initiatives.
Feasibility Assessments
These analyses explore the practical use of Earth observation services in specific policy contexts. They assess the technical, operational, and economic viability of EO solutions to support regulatory or programmatic goals.
