FIRE, the industry-led Forum for Innovation and Research in European Earth Observation, is inviting luminaries from six key sectors – agriculture, energy, raw materials, infrastructure, marine, and urban, with an affinity for technology to express their interest in becoming the first ever Earth Observation (EO) “evangelists”. As influencers in their respective sectors, the EO Evangelists will communicate the benefits of EO to industrial users and engage these users to further improve their operations by incorporating EO.

The Forest and Climate Change Unit at GAF AG has been involved in the past 15 years, with the application of Earth Observation and spatial analytical tools to resolve forest monitoring challenges globally. Our work focusses on supporting countries implement improved forest management, forest and biodiversity restoration and improving the livelihoods of communities. By doing so we are also supporting countries fulfill their obligations to reducing GHG emissions as part of the Paris Agreement in the forest and land use domain.

EARSC EO product award for 2021 will recognise a product which will support overall sustainable development projects or the implementation of the SDGs at national, regional and/or local levels, with EO services helping on the monitoring and reporting against the goals, targets or the global indicator framework.
In 2015, countries adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These include a broad range of sustainable development issues; ending poverty and hunger, improving health and education, making cities more sustainable, combating climate change, and protecting oceans and forests.

The European Space Agency and the WorldWater project with support from CNES, NASA, EARSC, CEOS and GEO invite interested parties to express their interest in participating in a Round Robin inter-comparison of inland surface water detection and monitoring algorithms using Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2 and Landsat 8 imagery.
