EARSC Nature Restoration Regulation – EO Services Database
The European Association of Remote Sensing companies (EARSC) is a trade association representing approximately 140 members across Europe in the Earth Observation (EO) downstream industry. EARSC and its members are closely following the EU’s initiatives and activities in the biodiversity domain and are interested in providing support to Member States and other relevant stakeholders working towards the implementation of the Nature Restoration Regulation (NRR).
Through its activities with the Biodiversity and Nature Restoration Working Group, EARSC has collected information on EO services that can support Member States in implementing the NRR. This Database quotes relevant legislative passages from Article 20 – Monitoring from the Nature Restoration Regulation, and sections from the Uniform Format for National Restoration Plans, which Member States must periodically submit to implement the regulation. It further outlines the indicators required for monitoring indicated within the legislation and links them to applicable Earth observation services from the private sector. It should serve as a resource to Member States developing their National Restoration Plans, and other stakeholders that will play a key role in the implementation of the regulation.
This is a living document and will be updated periodically as technologies change and new services become available. We would also like to thank the different stakeholders we interacted with, who helped shape the document and provided us with important feedback on our work.
