EOcafe: Empowering Europe’s EO community: a new vision for EuroGEO

21st of November 2024, 16.00-17.00 CET

EuroGEO is the European regional initiative that aims to consolidate and coordinate European activities that contribute to GEO (Group on Earth Observations).

GEO is a unique global network connecting government institutions, academic and research institutions, data providers, businesses, engineers, scientists and experts to create innovative solutions to global challenges at a time of exponential data growth, human development and climate change that transcend national and disciplinary boundaries.

At a time where EO-driven solutions, artificial intelligence and machine-learning are continuously evolving and increasing the realm of possibilities to address global challenges, the EuroGEO initiative is aiming to redefine itself.

In order to make the most out of European innovation, EuroGEO wants to become the main forum for European EO stakeholders from all sectors (public, research, private) to meet, interact and further strengthen the European EO ecosystem and capacity to address global challenges.

This is exactly what the EuroGEO workshop 2024, recently organised in Krakow, Poland, strived to discuss and address: defining how the existing EuroGEO structure could, and should, evolve in order to achieve this goal and best coordinate the European contribution to GEO.

Whether revamping the way the EuroGEO Action Groups work, increasing coordination with the Copernicus Entrusted Entities, national governments and European policymakers, or better integrating the private sector and EO industry, now is the time to join the conversation to shape the future of the EuroGEO initiative.

Join our host Geoff Sawyer (EARSC Strategic Advisor and former Secretary General), Nicolas Fichaux (Scientific and Technical Manager, EuroGEO Secretariat project) and Emmanuel Pajot (EARSC Secretary General) next week, as they shed light on the EuroGEO initiative and its objectives, as well as how it is evolving and how the EO community can get involved.

Some questions that could be addressed during this EOcafe include:

  • What is EuroGEO?
  • How does it fit into the European EO landscape?
  • What does it aim to do?
  • How is EuroGEO evolving? What will it look like in the future?
  • How can the European EO community get involved? More specifically, how can the EO industry get involved and what opportunities are there?

Registration: The webinar is open to all. Registration is free but compulsory.

Please note this is a virtual event!

EOcafe is part of a series of EARSC meetings that offer timely, relevant, and practical information on a broad variety of topics related to the EO sector. Join us every two weeks to discuss and network while enjoying a cup of coffee with friends.
