We are happy to announce a new opportunity to contribute to the main visual for EXPANDEO 2026! We are calling on all members to participate in our visual identity contest, and we invite you to get creative by submitting a satellite image that will define the look and feel of this year’s event.
What We’re Looking For:
We are looking for a satellite image as the central visual for EXPANDEO 2026. Here are the key requirements for your submissions:
- Colour Palette: Should align with the EXPANDEO branding (see logo above and list below for colors).
- Satellite Image: The image doesn’t need to be true colour and can be processed.
- Geographical Scope: Focus on Europe (EU or ESA member states).
- Content: Should be relatively neutral (nature-focused, avoiding cityscapes if possible). Note that the EXPANDEO and EARSC logos, as well as the dates and sponsors of EXPANDEO, will be featured on the visual ID. You can access a template here to test your image to see if it fits well with the text and logos.
- Format: PNG.
- File Size: Maximum 20MB.
- Resolution: Minimum 2048 x 1080, Maximum 3840 x 2160.
- If we like your image but need a different colour palette, we may ask for it to be reprocessed.
- Credits and copyright: please ensure that you include all crediting and copyrighting information for the images you process (e.g., Copernicus Sentinel-2 modified data processed by xyz – date). Your image will be protected from unauthorised use during the voting process by already being integrated into the EXPANDEO visual (e.g. with the EXPANDEO logo, dates, partners, etc.) when submitted to members.
Visual Assets and Layout Templates
Here you will find a selection of images from previous editions featuring the EXPANDEO layout (logo, dates, sponsor logos), as well as a background-free version that you can use to test the visual you would like to submit with the potential EXPANDEO layout.
What’s in for you:
- Your logo will be included as a partner on the final visual (e.g., “Visual ID provided/supported by [your company]”).
- Your contribution will be promoted on EARSC channels (social media and website) before, during, and after the event.
- You’ll receive full credit for your contribution as part of the official EXPANDEO branding.
Submission & Selection Process:
- Eligibility: All EARSC members are invited to submit an image to francesco.casaril@earsc.org with the subject “EXPANDEO 2026 image contest”. Please kindly indicate in your email where/what the image features (e.g., coastline of Poland, Veneto region, the Camargue region in France, etc.).
- Submission Period: Opens November 25th and closes December 19th.
- Selection:
- Submissions will first go through an eligibility check by the core EXPANDEO team.
- The top 3-5 visuals will then be shared with EARSC members for a final vote.
Timeline Overview:
- November 25th: Contest opens.
- December 19th: Contest closes.
- January 12th: Voting opens to members.
- January 23rd: Members’ voting closes.
- January 26th: Winner announced!
