Agenda Highlights:
- Opening Remarks by Emmanuel Pajot, EARSC Secretary General, and Cristina Ananasso from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF).
- Preliminary Research Results & Sector Feedback: A presentation of early research findings, followed by an interactive feedback session from participants.
- EO Private Sector Use Cases: Presentations of real-world examples, showcasing the challenges faced by companies in the EO sector and how they successfully overcame these hurdles.
- Expert Presentations by special guest from EUSPA: Presentation on EO-related tools and services, and by Xiaobo Yang, Data Support Team Leader at ECMWF providing overview of ECMWF’s user support services and introducing User Fora.
- Hands-on Training conducted by Chris Stewart, Training and Knowledge Transfer Coordinator at ECMWF and Walther Camaro, University College of Cork and ECMWF-trainer.
Throughout the morning, we will gather input and feedback from attendees, with live responses from ECMWF experts.
Afternoon Hands-on Training Session
The second half of the day will focus on practical training. Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops for a fully interactive experience. The training will cover:
- Locating and Accessing Datasets: Navigating repositories to find and efficiently download EO datasets.
- Efficient Dataset Search and Download: Techniques for quickly identifying specific datasets and streamlining downloads.
- Data Processing Workflows: Step-by-step guides on converting raw data into usable formats.
- Data Formats and Conversion: An overview of key data formats and how to convert them for use in private sector and research contexts.
With only 20 spots available, this workshop offers the opportunity to gain valuable insights and participate in hands-on training led by ECMWF experts. Additionally, you will have the chance to network with these experts and other guests.
