Join ‘Seize the beauty of our Planet’ contest for the best satellite image of Earth

Join the 5th edition of the contest “Seize the beauty of our Planet” for the best satellite image of Earth organised by CloudFerro.

The motto of this year’s contest is: “Preserve the Earth!” We invite all participants to send us satellite images of places that are threatened by the consequences of climate changes and, in your opinion, are worth preserving.

The primary objective of the competition is to rally support for the collaborative efforts of numerous institutions, organizations and individuals in combatting climate change. As a dedicated Copernicus Relay, CloudFerro also seeks to advocate for the use of Copernicus Earth observation data in environmental research, highlighting its pivotal role in the efficient and cost-effective monitoring of environmental shifts.

Winners selection and prizes

13 images with the highest number of votes will be the finalists and will proceed to the 2nd phase, in which a Jury consisting of EO experts will vote for the best 3. The authors of the 3 images with the highest number of the Jury votes will be awarded the following prizes:

  • Apple iPad 10,9″ 64GB – 1st place
  • Apple Watch SE 2nd gen. – 2nd place
  • Apple AirPods 4 – 3rd place

The authors of all the entries accepted for the 1st phase of the contest will be awarded a CloudFerro calendar for 2025 composed of the winning images. The calendar will also be awarded to all the contest participants whose images were admitted to the voting phase.

How to enter the competition?

  • Generate an image using platforms such as CREODIASWEkEOCODE-DE, or EO-Lab or any other platform with Copernicus data and prepare it in dedicated software e.g. QGIS.
  • If you are not sure how to generate the image, check out our video tutorial for a quick step-by-step guide.
  • Submit your image on the contest page by October 22 2024.

The “Seize the Beauty of our Planet” contest is an initiative dedicated to raising public awareness about the ever-evolving environmental changes affecting the Earth. Much like previous editions, the contest aims to inspire and engage the EO community in championing this cause by visually capturing the evidence of the transformations occurring within Earth’s ecosystems.
