Sentinel Hub Custom Script Contest

Share your ideas for producing new and interesting algorithms, to process Earth Observation data. Join the third round of the Sentinel Hub Custom Script Contest!

Sentinel Hub (operated by Sinergise), together with its partners, the Copernicus EU Earth Observation programme, the European Space Agency and AI4EO consortium, are looking for new and innovative ideas and scripts. They have organized a series of the Sentinel Hub Custom Script Contests starting with the first two in 2019. Due to the coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic a special edition of the Contest has followed in Spring 2020.

The success of the series resulted in the third edition of the Contest – a remotely run hackathon – which engages data scientists, remote sensing scientists, students (from high school to university), and the general public worldwide, to share EO data available to everyone.

From 4 August 2020 until 31 October 2020, you can submit up to three different scripts. They need to run within the EO Browser which offers data from Copernicus Sentinel and ESA missions, with tools to visualise, analyse and process that wealth of data.

This round is introducing a new optional challenge, with dedicated prizes. To qualify for it, base your script on a machine learning workflow developed using eo-learn – a collection of open source Python packages to seamlessly access and automate the processing of spatio-temporal image sequences acquired by any satellite fleet.

All the submitted scripts will compete under one common category, no matter which data source (Sentinels, Landsat, etc.) the scripts were used for, or if the script is eo-learn-based or not. All the entries will be judged by experts on functionality and usefulness, as well as possible commercial potential. The authors of the best three scripts will win attractive prizes, as well as the author(s) of the best script by a high schooler or high school team and the best eo-learn-based script.

To win the early bird awards for the best custom script and the best eo-learn-based script, submit your scripts before 20 September 2020.
