UiT The Arctic University of Norway: Open position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow in earth observation/remote sensing

UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Faculty of Science and Technology, has a vacant position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The position is affiliated with the Department of Physics and Technology and Earth Observation Research Group (http://eo.uit.no). It is a fixed term position for a period of two years. The application deadline is: 26 January 2015.

The Norwegian Research Council funds the position through a project entitled “Arctic Earth Observation and Surveillance Technologies (ArcticEO)”. The postdoctoral research fellow shall conduct her/his research within the scope of this project. Specifically, she/he shall work on algorithm development for sea-ice classification and characterization, and small ice objects (growler and iceberg) detection based on synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and polarimetric SAR (PolSAR) techniques. The successful applicant shall have a solid background in physics, statistics and mathematics, plus experience with SAR and PolSAR theory, analysis, and algorithm development.
