As previously reported on this website (see news published on 19/04/2010), the GMES atmosphere and emergency response service projects MACC and SAFER brought scientific information in support of EU Member State authorities after the Eyjafjallajökull eruption.

In addition, SAFER was activated on 21/04/2010 in order to cooperate with the International Charter Space ans Major Disasters. SAFER will help monitoring the activity of the Volcano on a daily basis thanks to high resolution optical images. High Resolution SAR images will also be used to analyse the evolution of ground texture.
