NASA launching new weather and climate observing satellite

TUCSON, AZ (KOLD) – NASA will launch it’s newest Earth-observing satellite on Friday from Vandenburg Air Force Base in California. Launch is scheduled for 2:48 AM.

The weather is forecasted to be cool and clear with no weather delays expected.

The National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System Preparatory Project (NPP) is the first mission to combine short and long term weather and climate observation instruments in one satellite.
