Kyrgyz-Chinese Center for Earth Observation opens in Kyrgyzstan

The Kyrgyz-Chinese Center for Earth Observation and Digital Earth will be opened in the Kyrgyz National Academy. It will allow reviving the idea of the Silk Road on the latest technology. This was announced by the department of information support of the presidium of the National Academy of Sciences.

According to the data, the main purpose of the center is to develop and support the state archive of aerospace images and information. It has a positive experience of mutual cooperation with the Center for Remote Sensing and Digital Earth of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

At the meeting with the delegation of Chinese scientists, led by the academician of the main department of education Huadong, the president of National Academy of Sciences, academician Abdygany Erkebaev noted that the new institution in future could become a regional center for sharing the data on Earth observation for the countries of Central Asia. Collaborative researches of Kyrgyz, Chinese scientists, as well as researchers from other countries, will be focused there.
