Helping SMEs manage innovation

Enterprise Europe, Brussels, 21 April 2005 ñ An opportunity to develop and test better services in support of innovation management is now open with the publication of a call for tender by the Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry. The call will be open until 31st May 2005 and the total available budget is Ä5m.

Enterprises need to manage innovation to be able to transfer entrepreneurial ideas into commercial success. However, European projects such as Paxis and Gate2Growth have provided clear evidence that companies, and especially SMEs, encounter difficulties in the planning, implementation and commercialisation of innovation.

This call for tender aims to enhance business consultancy in the field of innovation management and, through provision of new and better tools and further dissemination of best practice solutions, develop support for national and regional institutions (IRCís, development agencies, chambers of commerce, etc) in their efforts to improve the innovation management capabilities of European SMEs.
