e-GEOS (Telespazio/ASI) will provide COSMO-SkyMed data and services to Japanese Space Imaging

The e-GEOS long standing leading experience in Earth observation by both optical and radar remote sensing, clearly met the needs of the JSI for their customer.

A dedicated ground station (CUT: Commercial User Terminal) has been installed in Japan, enabling the management of all operations, from the images planning and acquisition, fully exploiting the systems operating modes and image resolutions, to their processing and delivering in Near Real Time.

Being at the forefront of technology, COSMO-SkyMed – the only high revisit radar constellation fully perational since years – offers unmatchable capabilities to the users, advanced features well appreciated by the Japanese partner and Institutions. The constellation of four satellites, funded by the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and the Italian Ministry of Defence, is capable to capture high esolution images with all weather and light conditions, thanks to the advanced radar sensors.

COSMO-SkyMed constellation, manufactured by Thales Alenia Space, is controlled from the Fucino Space Centre of Telespazio (that built the system’s entire ground segment), and is managed by e-GEOS from the Matera Space Centre, which acquire, process and distribute worldwide the satellite data for civil applications.
