DRAFT Recommendations for BUDAPEST and GRAZ Symposia
 

Note: The official recommendation paper will come out soon including the presentations from workshop participants.
 
– EO Industrial sector in Europe has lots of capabilities and excellence but is fragile and fragmented
 
– GMES is now the only way forward for the sector and needs strong EU political leadership
 
– Policy makers on a wide basis must be informed on the GMES socio-economic benefits, emphasising the high Value-for-Money
 
– EU must be pro-active to aggregate user demand and to foster focused investment
 
– EU has to evolve in the way it procures services
 
– EU and European Institutions at large must widely stimulate interest of potential users to be In Driver?? Seat and to participate in financial schemes (set high level WG on new financing schemes)
 
– Foster GMES role on Export Competitiveness
 
– Tie GMES with existing programs such as INSPIRE and the like in Positioning and Telecoms
 
– Foster the development of forecast tools (assimilation, modelling,?ñ)
 
– Tackle carefully the issue of public in-sourcing, preserving public out-sourcing to industry
 
– GMES needs Long Term Commitment from institutions and users
 
– Expected Results: increased market size, more structured offer, industry structure consolidation, improvement of competitiveness
 
– More Jobs and better Decision Capability For Europe
