Sentinel-2B successfully lifted off from Europe’s Spaceport

The ESA-developed Sentinel-2B satellite was launched today, doubling the coverage of high-resolution optical imaging in the Sentinel-2 mission for the European Union Copernicus environmental monitoring system.

EARSC participated to several workshops in Japan on 15-16 February 2017

EARSC together with 3 member companies – Airbus D&S, GMV and e-GEOS participated in the S-NET 4th Sectorial Meeting “EO ✕ Data Platform” in Tokyo on 15 February 2017. The event showed growing interest in Japan for consolidating EO and IT. The following day, Japan Space Systems (JSS) organised the first EARSC-JSS Joint EO & IT Seminar to give an opportunity for the two industries to come together and exchange ideas from fresh perspectives.

Sentinel-2B satellite ready for launch from Kourou – Copernicus´ ‘Colour Vision’ gets its second eye

Friedrichshafen, 24/02/2017 – Sentinel-2B, Europe´s next Copernicus satellite is being readied by engineers from Airbus for a 7 March 2017 lift-off from Kourou, French Guiana. Sentinel-2B will be the fifth satellite of Europe’s environmental monitoring programme Copernicus to be launched. Copernicus is an operational programme led by the European Commission (EC) in partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA). The Copernicus Sentinels supply remote sensing data of the Earth to deliver key operational services related to environment and security.

A community of 23 pan-European environmental Research Infrastructures (ENVRI RIs), members of the European Commission Horizon 2020 project ENVRIplus, will meet with Private Industry partners to explore opportunities for new joint innovation projects.
