ESA began exploring the potential of Satellite Earth Observation (EO) in the context of Development Aid/Assistance activities during 2010-15. Since then it has been collaborating closely with the International Financial Institutes on the use of EO (covering the timeframe 2016-2020) on larger-scale activities. The next phase is the ‘Mainstream &Transfer’ of EO into development. The Global Development Assistance – GDA, ESA’s new programme, will be implemented in a joint, coordinated initiative (“Space in support of International Development Assistance”), with the World Bank (WB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), from 2020-2024 at an initial level of 30 M€.
The European Association of Remote Sensing Companies (EARSC) is the European organization which –on a non-profit basis– promotes the use of Earth Observation (EO) technology and especially the companies in Europe which offer EO-related products and services. We are a membership based organisation with the mission to foster the development of the European EO geo-information services industry.
More information on our activities can be found on this site and in other tools which we develop on behalf of our members. All our on-line information and services can be accessed through the links at the top of this page. Our goal is to provide a rich source of information about the sector and the products on offer; we would welcome your contribution and / or your views via the contact form or via the EO Forum in the EARSC EO Portal.
If your company is based in Europe and is using or delivering EO products and services to customers then why not join us? Whether your objective is to increase awareness, reinforce your products and services, identify new business opportunities, or networking with other players in the sector, we can help.
